Snail Gateway

Line Quality & Elements

Ten-hut art cadet! In this art district you will be quickly learning the basics of art in practice and in theory. Although its called basics its challenging and informative for all artistic skill levels.

PENSNAIL

Basic Drawing & Sketch

The Pensnail oamieMon Level is our first art module and is mandatory for all new art recruits at the studio. In this level, our students are trained in basic drawing and sketching. Do you know what romantic drawing is opposed to classical? What is a psychic line and how do you draw these invisible lines? Making depth with scaling repetition? If you are perplexed by these questions then we are starting at the right place. Sure to be challenging at any skill ability, lets start art bootcamp!

Master Oamie’s Thoughts

Be gentle to your paper… sketch lightly so as to not give ’em any scars! Treat the paper like your baby!

ESCADET

Line Anatomy & Inking

The Escadet oamieMon is our second art boot camp level where our art cadets are trained in line inking, understanding the feelings that lines convey, and in the anatomy of a line. For example, in regards to line anatomy, did you know a line has three parts? Like a story a line has an opening, body and resolution; Your parents probably didnt even know that, schucks! Through a series of exercise sheets, along with the guidance of an Oam Studios Artist, our students will be able to complete their first inked out drawing.

Master Oamie’s Thoughts

Line quality is one of the most underated discoverys of mankind. Before our ancestors were rubbing sticks together, you better believe they were spending thousands of years drawing in the dirt with them!

MOLLUZOOKA

Basic Color Pencil Techniques

Mulluzooka will be briefing you on everything necessary for you to complete your color pencil training. This will include the arduous training involved regarding color pencil shading and filling techniques. Aside from the physical abilities you will acquire, this basic boot camp training will have your intellectual abilities sharpened with coloring vocabulary and color theory thus setting you up with the understanding necessary for your future painting endeavors. Succeed at this trainman level and you can handle what’s coming!

Master Oamie’s Thoughts

All the complex shading techniques build upon gradient fades. Master them and the rest is simpler.

DISASTROPOD

Basic Painting & Brushes

You’re almost done with bootcamp! At this level, the Disastropod oamieMon will get you learning all you need to know on how to make an impressive painting. This art camp will help you understand the use of different paintbrushes and the correct techniques to apply paint, glaze, and scumble, as well as prepping your canvas with gesso. Your intro to painting will be utilizing the most modern invention of paint known as acrylic. Before this marvelous invention, artists used oil paint or forms of watercolor. For the developing and fast paced  advertising and marketing agencies, oil paint took too long to dry while gouache and watercolor had stability issues and translucency issues. Acrylic solved everything because it dries super rapidly, is opaque and has bright vivd color.

Master Oamie’s Thoughts

My art professor, Master Paskewitz, was taught by one of the inventors of acrylic paint at Cooper Union in New York City . That’s just what we call name dropping btw… but what I was taught, you will learn!
