Artelier Art Classes

Students will experience the traditional atelier method of art instruction, enriched with a unique twist by Artist Omar. This classical approach emphasizes accuracy, observational skills, and advanced artistic techniques. Students will start with dry materials, such as graphite and charcoal, before proceeding to oil paints.

CLASS AGE

These advanced classes are offered to students 9-17 years of age with a serious concentration in art.

DURATION

Classes are 2 hours long. Classes can be attended a minimum of once a week or more often with additional scheduling.

PREREQUISITES

A review of 3-5 artworks by the student are needed to determine if they are ready for the advanced classes. A trial class to ensure they benefit from the classes will be scheduled.

Atelier Drawing

Embark on an artistic journey with our Atelier Drawing Fundamentals class led by Artist Oamie, designed for young artists aged 9 to 17. This comprehensive course introduces students to the time-honored techniques of classical drawing, emphasizing observational skills, precision, and creativity.

In this atelier-style class, students will learn to draw with confidence and accuracy by focusing on the foundational principles of drawing. Our experienced instructors, trained in the atelier tradition, will guide students through a series of structured lessons that build upon one another, ensuring a thorough understanding of each concept.

  • Advanced Drawing Techniques: Visulaizing line, shape, and form.
  • Gesture Drawing: Capturing the essence and movement of subjects.
  • Proportion and Scale: Achieving accurate proportions in drawings.
  • Light and Shadow: Creating depth through shading and highlights.
  • Still Life Drawing: Composing and rendering objects with realism.
  • Portraiture: Drawing facial features and expressions.
  • Figure Drawing: Exploring human anatomy and dynamic poses.
